Feature #531 - Tray icon appears twice on Windows XP when running as a service
Google user: nick.bolton.uk
The simplest solution to this to add a --disable-tray command line option, which should be used when installing as a service (the GUI will also use this option).

Happens to me in Windows 7 as well.

johnballantyne, Hmm sounds unlikely on Windows 7 due to session isolation. Are you sure you're really running as a Windows service? If you launch via the new 1.4.0 GUI, you'll see a similar issue, but there's not much that can be done about that for now. Please confirm your case.

This could be caused by using the --relaunch argument, which is not really designed for Windows. On Windows XP, when launching as a service, I see only 1 tray icon.

I see this as well on Windows 7. One icon shows the Synergy 1.4 right-click menu, and one icon shows the synergy 1.3 right-click menu.
Please see attachment for an example

I also get two icons when running Synergy 1.4.2 as client service (and no app/GUI running), one is connected and the other isn't.
Synergy 1.3.4 was previously installed.
When i uninstall the service, no icon appears, and when i re-install it, both icons are here again.

Also the unconnected icon can't be hidden when setting the task-bar tray area to do so for both Synergy icons.
It seems this one is always identified as new "application id" by Windows.

I had the same problem here.
I've noticed that when I change in service command line "--relaunch" fragment to "--restart", everything is OK.
Fixing procedure is very similar to that presented at
http://synergy-foss.org/pm/issues/2961
I'm running XP Pro SP3 32bit both on client and server.
