Google user: am...@xram.net

What list of steps will reproduce the problem?
Load Synergy on two machine and connect them. Load Photoshop CS4 on the
host machine. Photoshop is no longer able to perform certain basic tasks,
such as selecting using the marquee tool.

What version of operating system, and Synergy+ are you using?
Both running Windows 7 and the 1.3.5 RC, although I've seen this with other
versions of Windows and the 1.3.4 release.

What is the expected behaviour, and what happens instead?
I would expect Photoshop to work, but it doesn't.

Is there a way of temporarily working around your problem?
Quitting Synergy solves it immediately.

Probably quite important that Synergy works with Photoshop. But this sounds like a duplicate.

h2. I tried the new 1.4.4 Beta without any luck - Photoshop CS5/64bit still does not work on the host machine when Synergy server is running.

Reproduce:
# Start Synergy Server on Windows 7 x64 System
# Start Photoshop CS5
# Create a new image
# use paint tool, hold mousebutton to draw a line
# Result: only one blobb is painted, regardsless how long you hold the mouse button

h2. relevant part of synergy debug log:

event: button press button=1

This is low priority?

I created an account just to comment on this bug. This is seriously slowing down my workflow. Every time I switch from coding to design work on my Synergy host machine, I have to stop the server, making my client machines nearly inaccessible (only one is a laptop and the others don't have keyboards or mice).

This should not be a low priority.

This issue also affects Illustrator, possibly all Creative Suite apps.

tl;dr Disabling the synergy host service and restarting the machine restored photoshop functionality. Starting synergy host via qsynergy did not then break photoshop

I just experienced this issue with Photoshop CS5.1 (Version 12.1 x32) and Synergy 1.4.2 on Windows 7 x64.

I could not "drag" in Photoshop, clicks were registered however (this helps explain why marquee won't work). Further modifier keys (alt, ctrl, etc) were ignored for mouse actions (still worked for keyboard shortcuts).

Steps I followed:
# Machine starts with Synergy host service set to automatic.
# Open photoshop, open an image.
# Observe that photoshop functionality is limited (described above)
# Start > Run > services.msc
# Find the "Synergy Server" service, double click to open the properties
# Set the service startup type to "disabled"
# Restart machine
# Open photoshop, open an image
# Observe that photoshop is working correctly
# Open qsynergy (the gui)
# Start the synergy server via that gui
# Observe that my synergy client has successfully connected, and synergy is working
# Observe that photoshop is STILL working correctly

I've got work to do so I can't keep playing with this, but the above steps worked for me and got me rolling with Photoshop and Synergy. I hope this helps resolve the outstanding defect.

I experience this issue as well with Photoshop CS6. I have not found a workaround other than to stop Synergy.

Andrew, as a note, it is not necessary to restart the machine in my case. Disabling the service results in immediately restore dragging functionality.

I have this problem with photoshop, after effects, maya and vizrt - a pretty wide range of programs. Seems to mainly effects any tools that use marquee but also others. In maya I loose control over position, rotation and scale (can not switch). I love Synergy but I can not have it running in it's current state. On a brighter note I'm getting pretty fast using the on-screen keyboard.

I've found a work around without having to restart, I'm using Synergy 1.4.8 on a 64 bit Win 7 as server.

Start PCs, I have Synergy set to start in Service mode (starts on boot).

Synergy may or may not work properly.

If not, go to task manager\Processes, find anything Synergy related and press End Process button.

Close task manager.

Restart synergys.exe (useually in C:\Program Files\Synergy)

You will know if it has worked because you will see a black command window pop up.

If you don't see the black command window keep trying until you do, making sure everything relating to synergy has closed properly.

Symergy now works properly with all program tools and shorcuts, including wacom tablets from what I have tested so far. Thank-you guys for a brilliant almost perfect program.

These bugs are likely all duplicates of each other. There are probably more but I only looked through about 12 pages of issues:

#437 #3264 #3113 #2751 #3060

  • Problem
    • Actions (mostly with the mouse) do not have expected results (mostly click and drag, some just clicking, some keyboard input)
  • Reproduce Prerequisites
    • The problem occurs with Synergy Server running on Windows 7
    • The problems are on the Server/Host Machine
    • A connected client is not required to reproduce
    • Seems like a requirement is Synergy running as a service
  • Workarounds (somewhat):
    • The problems seem to start after keyboard input to the current window
    • Alt-tabbing away and back removes the problem until more keyboard input
  • Applications with the problem:
    • Chrome - can't click and drag in address box
    • Internet Explorer
      • clicking new tab shows new tab window, but doesn't make new tab
      • ctrl-t does the same as above
    • Photoshop - can't use click and drag tools like marquee

Currently the best fix seems to be to not run Synergy as a service.

I'm having this problem on Win8 x64, where when the server is running, several applications (Adobe Photoshop, various SecondLife viewers) will not only not register a drag or held mousebutton, but also will not register steady keypresses on the keyboard as a scancode into the program... instead, it repeats as per the key delay and repeat rates, registering only as a series of keytaps rather than a held-down key. The metakeys also fail this way. This one is a showstopper. If I can't make this work with an older version of Synergy, then I will have to stop using it. That would be a shame as I have used it for years now without issue. Thank you for the long time that it's been helpful, and I hope it can be again.

Right now the current fix i am using is set synergy to "desktop mode" on my windows 7 server. Seems to fixed it for now without uninstalling it.
