Feature #407 - Copy/Paste works with files
- Duplicates: Feature #46 - Support for file copy (and drag and drop) between computers
Google user: twig.ngu...@gmail.com
What is the problem you wish to solve?
The ability to transfer files between computers using Synergy with the
clipboard feature. What is your new feature idea?
Copy a file in Computer A.
Switch over to Computer B via Synergy.
Paste the file in the given location.
Synergy will pop up a transfer dialog of some sort to display progress. Is there already a less convenient way?
Yes, sharing via network folders.
We must move/copy the files into the folder manually, share it, copy it to
the destination computer, unshare the folders and delete the shared copy. How useful would the feature be to others?
Very useful!

Hi there,
Thanks for getting in touch and helping to make Synergy+ a better product. This has
already been raised as Issue #7
("http://code.google.com/p/synergy-plus/issues/detail?id=37":http://code.google.com/p/synergy-plus/issues/detail?id=37 ), so I will be marking
this as a duplicate of that. If you really feel that this is not a duplicate, please
let us know
Can I please ask the all further comments about this are added to issue #7 . If you
want this to receive a more attention, please remember to star 37.
As an aside, and I know it's not always ideal, you can use a shared folder to move
data between computers (Samba on Linux will allow this sharing to Windows, and
Windows 7 has an optional NFS client).
Thanks o

Hi Jason,
I feel that this feature is something that is SIMILAR to issue #7 , but not a
duplicate although they may share the same "file copying" mechanism underneath...
Issue #7 one will involve:
a) Dragging "files" with the drag cursor showing
b) Moving it across the screens (without letting go of those files)
c) Displaying the cursor with the file drag cursor on remote machine
d) Detecting mouse release and copying the files over
However this issue can be implemented through a simpler means:
a) Copy into clipboard and detect if it is a directory/file
b) Switch to the remote client
c) Paste and file transfer will initiate into the current folder/path.
The reason for suggesting this is because I am already using a shared folder between
the two computers. If you're copying files that area already in those folders then it
is fine.
But sometimes for a quick task, it is a little cumbersome to:
a) copy a file into the shared folder
b) copy it across the network
c) copy it out to where you actually want it
d) delete it when you have a local copy on the remote machine

Hi guys,
It's been a while since I've taken a look at this thread.
Today I received an email from StarDock and one of their new products is Multiplicity: http://www.stardock.com/products/multiplicity/download.asp
Although it's Windows only, it's got file transfer capabilities built in.
