  • Duplicates: Bug #3159 - In service mode, server doesn't start unless GUI is running

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Clean install as Synergy server running as a service under Windows
  2. Logout
  3. Mouse "trapped" on server screen

Expected: Synergy should function to allow spanning multiple screens, regardless of whether user logged on or not
Actual: Upon logout, Synergy is no longer active (presumably because registry service config. is incomplete, so we're actually running in "desktop" mode when logged in)

Versions (Synergy, OS):

Server: 1.4.8 under Windows XP Pro SP
Client 1: 1.4.8 under Mac OS X v10.6.8 ("Snow Leopard") - not really germane to discussion, since problem is limited to service configuration on Windows Synergy server

Comments:

Similar to http://synergy-foss.org/osqa/questions/415/, except that this version leaves the CommandLine reg. value completely empty, so there's nothing to modify.

NOTE: How about documenting the SynergyD.exe command line parameters? Also, it would be nice if invoking it without parameters or with commom help-request
parameters (e.g. at last one of "/?", "?", "-h", "-help", "-usage", etc.) would actually reveal something useful.
