  • Related to: Bug #3331 - Key modifiers not working in Eve Online on OS X

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Mac 10.7.3 as server, windows 7 as client
  2. move cursor to windows, select file with 'shift', or control ; or
  3. move cursor to windows, open spread sheet and type, type with shift

Expected: a.multiple selection of files; b. capital letters
Actual: a.only 1 file selected at one time; b. cannot type anything with shift key, and would not register any key again once the shift is pressed

Versions (Synergy, OS):

Server: Mac Lion 10.7.3
Client 1: Windows 7 64bit

Workaround:

move cursor back to mac, and move to windows again,
can type again in client side again, but modifier keys still dont work,
and will reproduce the above problems

Comments:

the clipboard will not work with hot keys, e.g. Crt + C/ Crt + V or CMD + C/ CMD + V

Please try using Windows as the server and Mac OS X as the client. In 1.4.7 beta, Mac OS X server is not fully functioning yet. I'm actually surprised that you can type anything at all on the client.

Is there a version which works with osx 10.7(.3) as the server? I'm unfortunately not in a position where I can use another system as the server.

1.4.7 actually works on lion 10.7.3, it's just buggy and the modifier keys not functional.

you may also try other synergy alternative until the 1.4.8 is out,
just google synergy alternative

I just tripped over this myself, so came looking for solutions. I can report that the other direction seems to work fine -- Windows Server and MacOSX client. This is less than ideal for me, too, because of the way I've configured USB devices between the two machines, so a permanent fix -- getting the modifier keys to work going Windows -> Mac -- would be most welcome.

Setting all of the modifier keys in the configuration to 'none' for every client including the server seems to make them work.

Zach Cheatham's solution worked for me when I had this problem too. Windows 7 server/Mac 10.7.4 client. Modifier keys weren't working until I set all of them to "None" in the client.

No modifier keys are not working for me either Windows 7 64 server/Mac 10.8.2 client. I tried setting all the modifiers to "none" on the client but that didn't work either. 1.4.10
