I have intermittent clipboard issues:

  1. After cutting and pasting between server and client
for a while, pastes on the client paste previous, not
    current, clipboard contents.

  2. When copying from a server Notepad window with Word
Wrap enabled, spurious spaces (Outlook) or carriage
returns (Notepad) are inserted at the wrap positions
when pasting, even on the server.

In both cases, quitting and restarting the server and
repasting corrects the problem without recopying.

Server: Windows XP, Synergy 1.2.7/8
Client: Windows 2000, Synergy 1.2.7/8

#1 is a duplicate of either 1156841 or 1409199, probably the former. i can't
reproduce #2.

I do not believe #1 is a duplicate.

1156841 has both systems running Cygwin/XWin, always fails
to copy from server to client, and is listed as fixed on
1.2.5. I am not running Cygwin/XWin on either, most of the
time the copy works correctly, and have the problem on 1.2.7
and 1.2.8.

1409199 blanks out the clipboard and makes it unusable. My
clipboard has never been blanked out or unusable. The
prescribed actions works without revealing any such bug.

#2 also occurs intermittently. The server-side paste
appears to work correctly (the pseudo-symptom was a Notepad
wrapping artifact). The extra-space problem with the
client-side paste is unresolved; restarting the server may
in fact not help, but disabling Notepad's word wrap and
re-copying has worked for me so far.

looks like i had forgotten to reopen 1156841. the fix didn't work and was
removed. and yours is a duplicate of that bug. the cygwin bit was not
relevant; the only relevant part is that it's on win32.

thanks for clarifying #2 is intermittent. i could use more clarification though.
do you see the problem at all when pasting on the machine you copied from?
does it happen only when pasting on the client, only on the server, both? is
there a problem with pastes into notepad or not?

when you copy something onto the clipboard synergy does not modify it on
that system at all. so if you ctrl+c on the a client screen then synergy only
reads the clipboard on that client and doesn't modify it. so i'd be very
surprised if pastes onto the system you just copied in were at all affected.
when the clipboard is transferred to another system it does do some newline
translation, but only where there were newlines to begin with. it has no way
to know where notepad word wrapped unless notepad put some special
character there. i'll check for those so i'm reopening this but only for #2. like
i said, #1 is a duplicate (and now open).

I have the same issue - even when trying to copy and paste
on the server - sometimes whatever you copy just does not
make it into the clipboard at all. It's like the clipboard
is completely disabled. The only way to get it functioning
again is to restart the service.

Server and Client is Windows XP, 1.2.7/8

I don't often copy and paste between server and client - I
mostly do the copying and pasting on the server - usually
URL's from my browser into another browser window (say a
forum post for eg) - sometimes I'm pasting data into notepad.

It will work fine one moment, and then when I go to copy
some other text, and then attempt to paste it, the clipboard
is empty. If I try re-copy it, nothing continues to happen.

If I restart the Synergy server service, then I am able to
copy and paste again.

It occurs often enough to be annoying.

I have not experienced #2 mentioned, and on odd occasions I
have experienced #1 (when pasting from server to client.
Usually re-copying on the server and then re-pasting on the
client works.)

This (#2) is not a Synergy bug. It appears to be a bug in
Notepad.

(Turn on line wrapping, enter a few lines' worth without
pressing Enter. Select all and copy. Then go to Microsoft
Word or a Notepad document with wordwrap off and paste. You
will see extraneous line breaks.)

NB: Save before copying in order to trigger the Notepad bug.

i couldn't reproduce the notepad problem earlier and it was because i hadn't
saved. since that's not a synergy bug and #1 is a duplicate this bug is now
officially a duplicate of 1156841.

by the way, please don't file multiple bugs together as it makes tracking them
harder. i'm likely to start rejecting multiples outright as maintaining the bug list
is a considerable chore.
