I have a PC and a MAC. I installed Synergy on the PC to be the server, and followed the instructions to install it on the MAC (typing the PATH line). but for some reasons, the mouse does not go onto the MAC screen... ANy idea why?

Did you setup the links on the windows server?

on the server you setup a screen for each system

then you need a link to get from windows screen to mac screen and a link to get from the mac screen to the windows machine (2 links)

eg
screens:
PC1
MAC1

Links
0 to 100%% of the right of PC1 goes to 0 to 100%% of MAC1 (MAC1 is right of PC1)
0 to 100%% of the right of MAC1 goes to 0 to 100%% of PC1 (PC1 is left of MAC1)
