When ever I try to connect my mac to the server in the log it keeps saying "server refused client with name "Peters-Workplaces-MacBook-Pro.local"" and my PC keeps saying "a client with name "Peters-Workplaces-MacBook-Pro.local" is not in the map". I have check over and over to make sure that the pc is trying to connect to the correct screen name (my mac's computer name which is displayed in the sharing screen in system preferences "My-MacBook-Pro.local")... I think my Mac keeps trying to connect as my old computer name which was "Peters-Workplaces-MacBook-Pro.local"... though i cannot change the screen name to that because it is too long to type in. Please help! |

Figured it out! Even though I changed my mac's name under system preferences synergy was still using my old computer's name as the screen name. To fix it I clicked on synergy preferences and changed the screen name there to my computer's name. |

If you don't want to or can't change your computer name (e.g. on the network at work): Workaround for PC In the Synergy setup go to "File" > "Save configuration as...", then edit the config file with a text editor and complete the screen name. Note that the path of the config file should have no space character, otherwise the server won't start up. Put it into C: or somewhere else. Workaround for Mac There seems to be a com.http-synergy-foss-org.Synergy.plist file. Edit it and restart Synergy. (See also this ticket. |
Can you please list the 2 computers host names, client and server, as you want them to connect? That would help me help you.
My MacBook's Computer Name is "My MacBook Pro" (My-MacBook-Pro.local) and the screen name I am using is "My-MacBook-Pro.local" (with "Macbookpro-0ce1" as an Alias because I noticed it displayed that way when seeing it over the network on my PC)
My PC's Computer Name is "pc82.petersauto.managed" and I am using "pc82" as the screen name with "pc82.petersauto.managed" as an Alias.
My PC is the server and my MacBook is the client.
