Is there a way to send ctrl+alt+del to another computer using Synergy? Right now I am using a batch file that sends the command to my second computer and then unlocking the PC using my KVM. It would be nice to be able to send the Ctrl+Alt+Del sequence from the Synergy server to the Synergy Client.

Thanks!

I have the same problem; have you found any solution yet?

Bug #646 contained the answer for me. Quoting:

"...the administrator must explicitly allow sending SAS via group policies (run gpedit.msc, Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Logon Options/Disable or enable software Secure Attention Sequence, enable for services or for both services and Ease-of-Access programs)."

(emphasis mine)

I have Windows 7 x64 as server and Windows 7 x86 as client and I tried solution by "briankanderson":

"...the administrator must explicitly allow sending SAS via group policies (run gpedit.msc, Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Logon Options/Disable or enable software Secure Attention Sequence, enable for services or for both services and Ease-of-Access programs)."

and it works. I have UAC disabled. I enabled SAS using group policy to allow Services and Ease of Access applications to simulate keystrokes on logon screen and now if I press Ctrl+Alt+Pause/Break it works. I'm using Synergy 1.4.10.

Thanks Katulus,

This worked for me on 1.4.10. The setting was "default" and I changed it to "yes" and now it works.

It would be nice in synergy would detect and notify the user about this when loaded.

I have tried that while the mouse was on the client PC as well as when the mouse was on the server pc and it did not work at all.

Thanks!

Perhaps you can provide some additional information then. Please edit your question, and include the OS and version of Synergy for both client and server. Also, post your config file between
and
tags.

This didn't work for me either by default. I needed to add the following to my config file and restart Synergy on each system:

section: options
    keystroke(Control+Alt+Break) = keyDown(Control+Alt+Delete); keyUp(Control+Alt+Delete)
end

I needed to add it through the config file because pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del on my Windows machine would, of course, bring up the Windows Security dialog. And, in case you're not familiar, you can find where your config file is by clicking the Info button in the Synergy app.

I tried that just now, and each time I start the Client it goes to a different config file in the temp directory. Also on the server side when I start the server it says:

"starting server config file: C:/Program Files/Synergy/config.sgc log level: NOTE NOTE: started server, waiting for clients WARNING: failed to register hotkey ScrollLock (id=ef14 mask=0000)"

And I can no longer get to the client.

I am also using 1.4.7 if that helps

This doesn't work for me either (Server on Ubuntu - v1.4.7 - 64bit, Client Windows 7 - v1.4.7 - 32bit)

(27 Feb '12, 23:35) yusuf

v1.4.9, Server Windows 8 Customer Preview x64, Client Windows 7 v1.4.9 64bit

Tried both Control+Alt+Break and Control+Alt+Insert .. seems its blocked by Win 7's Logon UI, am assuming its a security feature that must be disabled prior to getting this keystroke functionality to work

Awesome, thanks Briananderson. I was playing with my laptop the other day, and I have ESET. HIPS some how prevents this from working, however no matter what I disable or enable I have only been able to get it to work once. (Not sure what I did), but cannot get it to work again. I will try your solution.

I have turned off the UAC and modified the local policy to enable SAS and I've been reading a lot that you must have UAC ON in order for the SAS to work. I added the line to the config file, and I'll continue testing but as of right now with version 1.4.10 this is still not working with CTRL + ALT + DEL as well as CTRL + ALT + INSERT.

When I turned UAC back on, it appears to be working.
