My setup is as follows: Windows machine as server (Synergy 1.4.4). Mac OS X machine as client (Synergy 1.3.1). I use Finnish keyboard layout in the Windows server side. With this setup, when I go to the OSX screen and enter text, the entered characters are entered like I would have entered them with the Windows server... In the Finnish keyboard layout some chars are entered using the AltGr key (e.g. and @). But if I upgrade the Synergy to a later version on the client side, the way characters are entered is changed. I have to use the Windows keyboard to compose the special characters like it would be a Mac keyboard, i.e. changing totally how some characters are entered. I like the old behavior better which I get with Synergy 1.3.1 - would it be possible to get this as an option for future releases? |

I suspect this depends on the client keyboard layout. Try changing it to EN US and see if that helps. |

I tested this with latest beta version of synergy, 1.4.10. Switching client to EN US in client helps a bit, but really only for some characters. Either way, some keys are wrong. Still, running server on 1.4.10 and 1.3.1 on clients works "like it should" (both Ubuntu Linux 10.04 and Mac OS X 10.6). (Except that the 1.3.1 is buggy and sometimes keys get "stuck", e.g. needing a re-launch of server). My server is running Windows 7 (64bit), with Finnish keyboard layout. |
