Can i connect one 32 bit and one 64 bit machine?

Is there a way to connect one 32 bit windows 7 pro machine to a 64 bit windows ultimate? Not sure if they are compatible but i'm receiving the following errors...i have synergy running as admin, have port 24800 opened on both and also have my firewalls turned off at the moment.
