I am using Synergy Beta 4.4.4 and when I install 4.4.4 on both computers it throws and error saying the two client are incompatible. When I check the version number in the about page on both windows computers it reports "(Unknown)" was the version number

I am having the same issue with a vista server and a OS X 10.6 client.

Don't worry, the "Unknown" message is a non-fatal bug -- this doesn't mean that the client incompatible. The about window bug will be fixed soon.

The real error is probably caused by accidentally running an old version of Synergy in the background. On Windows, please uninstall Synergy completely and make sure that there is no Synergy directory in Program Files and no Synergy icon in your system tray, then re-install the new version.

Make sure that all machines are using the same protocol version. For example, if you're using 1.4.4 then make sure all machines are running this version (since we upgraded the protocol version).
