Hello folks,

I'm using Synergy 1.4.3 beta running as a service on both the server and client machines, which are both Windows 7 Enterprise. I run iTunes for my music on the server machine but, when the synergy service is running, the keyboard shortcuts in iTunes don't work. (iTunes version 10.4.1.10, and keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl-, Ctrl-L Ctrl-Shift-M)

Also, simply stopping the Synergy Server service doesn't get them working again either. I actually have to kill the synergys.exe process to get the shortcuts working (why that process doesn't die when I stop the service is another question I have, but it's outside the scope of this question).

A little testing shows that if iTunes is running on the client instead of the server, the keyboard shortcuts will work. That doesn't work for me though because the client (my laptop) doesn't have the music library and isn't connected to speakers.

I realize that a simple workaround would be to use the laptop as the synergy server and the desktop (with the music) as the client, but I wanted to ask if there was a solution for this or if I should report it as a bug.

Thanks,

--Nick

I have a new development for this. I ran into another issue using VMWare Workstation on the machine running Synergy Server and in attempt to fix it in re-installed a different version of Synergy. I am now running 1.3.7 again, but this time I'm using the x86 build instead of the x64 and now my iTunes shortcuts are working. (in addition to that release solving my issue with VMWare Workstation). It looks like my problem is with the 64bit builds.

Keep in mind that beta is not considered stable, and there may be issues. Do you have any action keys defined in your config file?

I do understand that some instability is to be expected in a beta build. If I remember correctly, however, I was having this issue on 1.3.x as well. I didn't include that in my original post because I don't remember which specific version I was on.

And to answer your question, no. I don't have any action keys defined. Just a simple two machine set up.

Are you using another utility to create your keyboard shortcuts for iTunes? I am familiar with ctrl-L, but not the others you mention.

They are all Out of the Box shortcuts. Ctrl-, is for preferences, Ctrl-Shift-M is to switch to Mini Player (used to be Ctrl-M but they changed it recently)

I've also now tried 1.4.4beta x86 and in some configurations it works as well. Here's a summary of what works and doesn't:

all x64 builds show the same problem 1.3.7-x86 works fine. 1.4.4-x86 works fine as long as you are not running the server as an administrator or as a service. If you start it interactively without elevated privileges it works fine.
