-----------|-------------- | monitor1 | monitor 2 | | (server) | -----------|-------------- | monitor| | | (client) |

When configure section: links server: down(0,50) = client The debug log indicates try to leave "server" on down no neighbor down ===> cursor can NOT be moved to client.

If change down = client (i.e. without percentage), cursor can be moved to client, but only via 50 to 100 percent of the bottom server screen.

The relative location of these monitors is messed.

server mointor 1 and server monitor 2 are sitting next to each other left and right.

client monitor sits below server monitor 1

I guess that my original question may be confusing, so I cannot gather any answer. To sum up the problem, I cannot use down(0,50)= Synergy seemed to consider "down with range specification" on the left side of '=' sign as unknown direction. After taking out range specification, it works but I have to move mouse to right side of screen to move down. Hope that this is clear and can gather some input to resolve the issue.

Thanks

After further thoughts on my issue with this set up, I concluded that Synergy does not work well with Windows 7 or the other way around. My Synergy server is running as 'dual monitor side-by-side' with one computer managed by Windows 7. The cursor information passed by windows 7 to synergy is misleading to synergy. For example, first pixel of right-side monitor from win to synergy supposed to be (the pixel width of left-side mointor) plus one, but win pass 1 to synergy; in addition first pixel of left-side monitor is considered as "no down neighbor'. This explains why I can only move cusor down to client synergy via right-side monitor. Swapping physical connectors nor setting different main display on server could change the behavior.

I believe my issue is similar as described here:

http://synergy-foss.org/osqa/questions/491/secondary-server-display-diagonal-to-primary

Is the screen resolution the same for your 2 server monitors? If not, do they line up on the top side or are they diagonal? Can you post your resolutions, relative positions, and config file?

Thank previous poster's answer. It is working now. Here is the summary of the cause and the solution: Due different sizes of monitors hooked up with synergy server machine, the bottom of these two monitors are not lined up on the same level. This caused Windows 7 providing Synergy with wrong coordinates of mouse. The solution is to use windows display applet to line up the bottom of two monitors. Thanks again.
