Trying to get 1.3.7 to work on two Windows 7 laptops. Followed Austin's tutorial and still can't connect. Log says "failed to connect to server: Timed out stopped client" I'm willing to donate to Synergy for help getting set up. I can even create an Adobe Connect session and have someone remote into my screens to assist. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Kyle |

This error is caused by either trying to connect to the wrong IP address, or if there is a firewall on your server blocking the connection. There is also the possibility that your server is not running. Where do I find the IP address? At first I used the Host Name and then tried the IP address based on what was given in the Info window. Again, willing to pay someone or donate for help. Thanks.

Depends on your operating system (just Google it). Did you check your firewall?

When I google my IP address I get something different than what's in the Info window on the Synergy server window. Which IP do I use for the client?

I use Windows Firewall. I added Synergy to both the server and client. On the client I created a rule to open port 24800.

The error message I get on the client says "connecting to '173.18.7.139': 173.18.7.139:24800 failed to connect to server: The attempt to connect was forcefully rejected stopped client."

On my Synergy server laptop, when I click the Info button I get this. Note the IP address. Where does it get that from? When I google my IP address I get 173.18.7.139. When I click the Info button on the client laptop I also get an IP address that says 192.168.1.4. So which IPs are the right ones? This can't be this difficult. I have two Windows7 x64 laptops.

Anyone want to earn $30? I'd be happy to pay someone this to help me figure out why I can't get my two Windows7 laptops to work with Synergy. Actually, I have two laptops and a 3rd monitor but haven't bothered with the monitor since the laptops won't communicate. I can set up an Adobe Connect session so that you can view my desktop and remote in if necessary.

192.168.1.4 looks like a LAN IP. Make sure you're not using your internet IP. Also, your PC may have more than 1 LAN IP. Try the latest version also, since this might help with firewall issues.
