Server: MacOSX 10.6.7 Client: Windows 7 SP1 Latest Synergy and also older version, have same problem. Network firewall is off, sockets are half-built but no go Output:

accepted client connection client "Win7" has connected switch from "iMac" to "Win7" at 1365,397 leaving screen screen "iMac" updated clipboard 0 screen "iMac" updated clipboard 1

client "LAP-003" is dead jump from "Win7" to "iMac" at 1280,720

I doesn't work also from iMac to Win7 as server, It's not a network issue because I tested ports connectivity and are working... Using a protocol analyzer I can see both client and server can see each other but client stuck with Socket-Open, its weired! maybe I hit a bug. any idea?

Can you include some of the log statements around that time from the server and client? Which computer is "LAP-003"?

I tried older version and switched server and client machines, no go! Do you need more log?

Using 1.4 beta as server on Mac OS X is very buggy at the moment.

Things to try:

  1. Use an older version (1.3).
  2. Try installing the server on Windows.

Did you try using the Windows machine as the server? Just temporarily...

Yes, its weired, TCP handshake is not properly happening. In the same IP subnet without any firewall on systems.

The suggestions didn't work as you can see the server VERSION on the output below:

$ sudo synergys -f
Synergy 1.3.6 Server on Darwin 10.7.0 Darwin Kernel Version 10.7.0: Sat Jan 29 15:17:16 PST 2011; root:xnu-1504.9.37~1/RELEASE_I386 i386
could not map hotkey id=ef14 mask=0000
started server
screen "iMac" shape changed
accepted client connection
client "NetX-LAP-003" has connected
switch from "iMac" to "NetX-LAP-003" at 1365,595
leaving screen
screen "iMac" updated clipboard 0
screen "iMac" updated clipboard 1
switch from "NetX-LAP-003" to "iMac" at 54,1129
entering screen
client "NetX-LAP-003" is dead

My configuration:

$ more /etc/synergy.conf

section: screens
        iMac:
        NetX-LAP-003:
end

section: links
        iMac:
                left = NetX-LAP-003

NetX-LAP-003:
                right  = iMac
end

section: aliases
        iMac:
                Shawn-Zandis-iMac.local
                127.0.0.1
                192.168.0.104

end

any idea? doesn't work the other way als

Thanks Nick,

Quick update, its working on iMAC as server and Backtrack(Debian) as client, I thought problem is on iMAC all the time, but problem is WIN7 as client which cannot connect! it stuck in connecting!

(24 May '11, 20:47) szmet

Update:

NOW, Synergy works between iMAC, Debian and Vista - iMAC is Server Win7 is not able to connect to server, i tried all different versions on Win7 (run as admin)

(26 May '11, 02:11) szmet

So the problem seems to be with having win 7 as a client where the server is on any platform? Or is it a problem specifically between win 7 client and mac server? I believe there are serious bugs with mac server (so your problem may be intermittent)... Does linux client work with mac server?

(26 May '11, 08:11) nbolton ♦♦

You might also try adding --restart to the client's start-up command line.

(26 May '11, 10:39) willichan ♦

Well, MAC OSX is server and works for VISTA and Linux at the same time, so its a good server :)

My Win7 is not able to be a server, cannot be a client either in any scenario, I keep getting CLIENT is DEAD! on my server log...

Someone told me problem could be .NET Framework service pack but I cant uninstall it as i need it.

Problem is having Win7 as a client with any platform as server.

I used all different versions of client software for Win7, when I click on TEST it stops working and crashes...
