OK, I have been fighting to get this working all morning and have decided it's time to ask some more experienced folks what I'm doing wrong. So I've installed Synergy 1.4.2 (beta) under OSX 10.6.7. I want to use the MacBook Pro as my main system and use it's keyboard and mouse to control the Dell Laptop.

Here is my current setup:
MacBook = Host on VLAN1 (with access to VLAN2)
Dell = Client on VLAN2
Synergy 1.4.2 Server under Darwin 10.7.4

Below is the config file I've setup on the host system, after copying the files to /user/bin/ and launching synergys using the following terminal command (no errors) it doesn't seem to do anything and the Client machine isn't finding the Host.

synergys --config synergy.conf

synergys --config synergy.conf:

section: screens
MacBook:
Dell:
meta = ctrl
ctrl = alt
end

section: links
Dell:
right = MacBook
MacBook:
left = Dell
end

section: options
switchDelay = 500
relativeMouseMoves = false
screenSaverSync = true
switchCorners = none
switchCornerSize = 0
keystroke(meta+left) = ;switchToScreen(Dell)
keystroke(meta+right) = ;switchToScreen(MacBook)
end

How does the host computer know what it's screen is called? In this case how does the host know it's supposed to be called MacBook?? Does the client also need to be running on the Host machine? If anyone can give me a step by step of where I'm going wrong I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Also are there plans to make the OSX version work as simply as the Windows version? That would be awesome!!!

I am requesting this be reopened because your suggestion doesn't appear to be the correct solution.

I have Synergy Client running on the Dell Laptop with the correct settings as follows: Name of Server: MacBook Advanced>Screen name: Dell Automatic start server or client when GUI starts: Yes

I get the following Error: WARNING: failed to connect to server: address not found for: MacBook ..libsynergyCClientApp.cpp,357

OK, I have had a little success this morning. Instead of using the short names for the computers I instead used the Full Computer name and although the PC Client sees the correct IP address of the OSX server, it is giving me an error (see below). At least they are seeing each other now. :)

<date and="" time=""> NOTE: connecting to 'Christopher-Wilmss-MacBook-Pro.local': <ip address="" :="" port=""> ..libclientCClient.cpp,115

<date and="" time=""> ERROR: server refused client with name "LC00553.ads.loyalistcollege.ca" ..libclientCServerProxy.cpp,191

<date and="" time=""> WARNING: failed to connect to server: server refused client with our name ..libsynergyCClientApp.cpp,357

I've checked that the proper name is in the config file 3 times and it looks to be accurate. Any ideas?
