I have just upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04. I was able to install Synergy 1.4.2 from the .deb using dpkg -i. I am able to use Synergy from my Win 7 Synergy server to the Ubuntu client after logging into the Ubuntu 11.04 system from its attached keyboard and mouse.

I cannot figure out how to get the 1.4.2 synergy client to start so that I can use it from the login screen.

I've looked at so many blogs, etc. I'm probably a bit confused at this point.

The above link contains the way I set up my Ubuntu client. I had a typo in one of my Defaults for the IP of my server. Sorry I didn't find it before posting here - it was an obvious answer.

I now have Synergy 1.4.2 and Ubuntu 11.04 working just exactly the way I want it with my Win 7 server.

You'll need to download the deb package from http://synergy-foss.org/ , then open a terminal window and install it the following way:

sudo apt-get install libqt4-gui libqt4-network
sudo dpkg -i synergy-1.4.2-Linux-i686.deb

After performing the procedure above you'll be able to configure synergy-1.4.x interactively.

I hope this helps, best regards,

EB
