I tend to disable several unnecessary services in order to improve resource availability. Which Windows XP and Vista services (if any) does Synergy depend on to operate properly?

Synergy does not, to my knowledge, have any service dependencies for server or client.

You can install Synergy 1.4 as a service in Windows if you want it to automatically start when you start Windows, unless you start it via the GUI, in which case you do not need to run it as a service. Version 1.3 does not support services in Windows Vista and above.
