Mouse work fine but Keyboard no. I meant you can't type anything on the client side.

Synergy version 1.4.9 for both Mac 10.8 & Win7 on Bootcamp. Not working and tried nightly build too, same.

Solution?

Please follow the wiki instructions more carefuly. First, set the debug level to Debug2, and second, please use pastebin and send us the link.

Your Mac Synergy server isn't sending keyboard messages, for sure. So it's definately a problem on the Mac side. I seem to remember something about keyboard layouts. What keyboard layout are you using on both computers? I need to know the physical layout and the layout that you have configured on the OS, for both machines.

Thanks! After know you say about keyboard layout and I did some research and found a solution!

This problem is caused by Boot Camp replacing the default Windows keyboard layout with a custom Apple keyboard layout, which Synergy is unable to recognize for some reason.

Link: mapping the correct keyboard layout in PC

Here's the the fix/workaround:

  1. Go to Control Panel | Region and Language | Keyboards and Languages | Change Keyboards.
  2. Click Add, then select your desired keyboard layout from the list; e.g., English (United States) | Keyboard | US.
  3. Do not select your newly added keyboard layout from the Default input language drop-down list; this is unnecessary. Click OK twice to accept your changes in the the two dialog boxes that are up.
  4. Synergy should immediately start working. If it doesn't, try restarting it.

Thanks You!!

I cannot apply the suggested solution, since that keyboard is already installed as the default. When I follow the steps above, at step 2, when I get to Keyboard | US, it is displayed as "(Default)" in bold, and does not have the tick-mark box next to it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

You can also try disabling the "Secure Keyboard Entry" in Terminal.app

Check for any open modal boxes on the mac and dismiss them. I had this happen a couple of times and couldn't figure it out. Then I found a login dialog open in Mail. Once I dismissed that dialog it started working again.
