Can I use an IP address or a hostname as the client ID? If so, what would be the correct format to use? Should I enter it in like "<my_machine_name>" or "192.168.2.2"? I can't seem to get one computer to see the other one, even though I am viewing one PC from the other using "join me". I have 2 computers that both connect through the same router, though they are in different rooms. I have so far been unable to see one or the other. I do not have home sharing set up or anything like that. |

First, you should make sure you can ping the server from the client using it's IP address. You may have to turn off a firewall on the server in order to do this. Once you are able to connect using a program other than Synergy (e.g. ping), then you can start configuring Synergy. To answer your question: When configuring the server, you would normally use the client's hostname when adding screens to your configuration (on Windows, you can find this by going to system properties). |

Hi kris, I've updated your question so that what your're asking is more clear.
