2 monitors on host connecting to client, mouse will scroll up and down only at left edge of screen

I have 2 monitors on my pc (server pc) and when i connect the laptop up as a client, the mouse will only scroll up and down the left edge of the laptop

layout - left to right: Laptop - 2nd Monitor - Main Monitor

It did work at one point after some tweaking, only for a short while though as I thought it would continue working and didn't need the laptop at the time so switched it off.
