This addresses my question about TextExpander, but more generally, in a way that may benefit other apps as well.

The config doc is pretty good at describing how to set up actions to be performed when the user presses a hotkey, but what about triggering an action just by switching screens with the mouse?

Specifically, when my mouse leaves the screen of the host computer, I'd like to send a hotkey to the host computer, then send it again when the mouse returns.

For me, this could turn TextExpander off and on when I leave the home computer so it doesn't try to run on the client machines, but I imagine it would also have applications in gaming (such as pause), activate/deactivate screensavers, etc.

Synergy can do things when a hotkey is pressed, but I don't believe it works the other way round.
