Hello All, I am currently using Synergy server on Debian and XFCE4, I have two clients 1 XP Pro and the other is also Debian and XFCE4. The two clients are laptops and I use panning to match the screen size of my main desktop. The Laptop running XPPro pans fine, when the synergy cursor moves to a border, the screen follows. The Laptop running Debian and XFCE4, the screen does not pan when the synergy mouse cursor touches the edge of the screen. The cursor "disappears" off the edge of the screen and moves where it was asked to go, the screen just doesn't follow it. If I use the touch pad on the laptop to move the X cursor directly the screen will pan and I can see the synergy cursor so the panning works fine, just not with the synergy mouse cursor. I am not sure if this is to do with synergy or xserver-xorg but it is inconvenient as it means I have to keep reaching to the touch pad on my laptop to move the screen. Any hints or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |
I am unaware of any way to work-around or enable panning-support, so this sounds like a feature requirement. Unless panning was supported at some point, in which case it would be a bug.
Just to be clear, panning is a feature of the OS, not synergy, ie your "desktop" area is larger than the area your screen can actually see when the mouse hits the edge of the screen, if the screen is not already on the edge of the desktop it will slide or pan to follow the mouse cursor.
Under Xorg the synergy mouse cursor moves, but it doesn't seem to tell Xorg that it has passed the edge of the viewable area and so the screen doesn't pan. I didn't actually realise that the synergy mouse cursor was different to the mouse cursor on the machine until reading another post somewhere.
I have noticed that when moving the synergy mouse cursor on the Xorg Client, and then moving the mouse with the touch pad on the client, the mouse cursor follows on, however if I then move the synergy mouse cursor again, it moves from where ever it was when it stopped moving (ie before the cursor was moved with the touch pad)
