After the initial setup hurdles with the distro packaged 1.3.x, I turned to v1.4.7 beta synergys Server on Ubuntu Linux 32bit 11.10 and synergyc client 1.4.7 Win7 32bit. It's been working pretty well

However 2-3 weeks ago the mouse could slide into the client but disappears, and no keyboard response either anywhere until I slide mouse back to server's screen. The sliding is by memory since I can't see it.

Some technical details at http://superuser.com/q/398227/110335 where it's been collecting tumbleweeds.

No amount of experimentation has showed signs of improvement. It doesn't matter which permutation of startup order and method I use: synergys vs. synergyc first, from Windows service or cli, from synergy or synergys/synergyc directy with proper --name and other parameters etc.

When I observed what was happening in DEBUG2 log level, synergys continued to register move events and coordinates normally. synergyc also displayed verbose events as long as I touched anything. The hosts do acknowledge connection to each other in these logs over port 24800.

While moving the mouse over the win7 client its log shows:

> DEBUG2: msg from server: DMMV DEBUG2:
> readf(%2i%2i) DEBUG2: readf: read 2
> byte integer: 95 (0x5f) DEBUG2: readf:
> read 2 byte integer: 632 (0x278)
> DEBUG2: recv mouse move 95,632 DEBUG2:
> writef(CNOP) DEBUG2: wrote 4 bytes
> DEBUG2: msg from server: DMMV DEBUG2:
> readf(%2i%2i) DEBUG2: readf: read 2
> byte integer: 95 (0x5f) DEBUG2: readf:
> read 2 byte integer: 602 (0x25a)
> DEBUG2: recv mouse move 95,602 DEBUG2:
> writef(CNOP) DEBUG2: wrote 4 bytes
> DEBUG2: msg from server: DMMV DEBUG2:
> readf(%2i%2i) DEBUG2: readf: read 2
> byte integer: 92 (0x5c) DEBUG2: readf:
> read 2 byte integer: 575 (0x23f)
> DEBUG2: recv mouse move 92,575
