When I try to compile 1.4.7 on RHEL 5.6 I get errors in CXWindowsScreen.cpp. There are many data types which are not declared in this scope:

XgenericEventCookie XGetEventData XI_RawMotion XFreeEventData XIEventMask XIAllDevices XIMaskLen XIAllMasterDevices XI_RawKeyRelease XISetMask XISelectEvents

The same problem occurs on Fedora 10, using the specific dependencies trick

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately I do not have root access to this machine. I was able to compile a previous version without any trouble but that version had issues that I couldn't live with, so I was hoping that this would work. I guess I am out of luck unless there is a way around needing root access.

I'm having the same issue - I'm trying to compile on a SLED10 machine that I unfortunately don't have root access too. Any support on this would be really appreciated!
