Fedora 16 x64 server to windows 7 x64 client

I have a problem with fedora 16 x64 with gnome shell that it will not take control of the windows 7 machine unless I have a full screen window or a window touching the side of the screen next to the windows 7 computer. I have turned on focus follows mouse on my fedora machine but that did not fix the issue. Any other options?
