For example, will v1.3.1 running as a server work with 1.3.8 or 1.4.5 running as a client, or vice versa? More generally, where are the version breakpoints for interoperability? |

After ver 1.4 my XP and W7 refused to connect to each other. To make it work I used 1.36 in XP and 1.4.0 in W7. Now 1.4.7 runs in both machines without a glitch. So why to worry about older versions, unless you have a reason to worry about of course. Do you? I do. My main workstation, (thus, the synergy server), is win2k which will only run 1.3.1 latest (that I've tested)... it won't run 1.3.8 or better. My systems include Ubuntu and WinXP upon which I can run almost any arbitrary synergy version (as you indicated). I'm hoping someone else knows about this from experience or knowledge of the source code, otherwise I'll dig in when I get a chance (which may be awhile).

I used to run W2K but it was a very long time ago. What I remember is that I used a ver 1.3x but not really sure. What I remember is that it worked fine though. Sorry can not help any further.
