High CPU usage (>50%) on client machine when moving mouse

My client machine (Win7 32-bit), experiences a very high CPU spikes when I move the mouse around. If I am running a resource-intensive program on top of that, it can make things unbearably slow. The client machine has good specs and with Synergy turned off, the machine runs great. The server does not experience this issue.
